New Year’s Intentions

New Year’s Intentions

I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions. Because I have HIGH expectations of how something’s going to happen and I’m totally the kind of person that over commits to something and ends up letting myself down which is completely defeating. Instead, I’m setting some intentions about my year and breathing a certain energy into the first half of 2018.
First of all, this year is completely different from ones before for personal reasons. We found out late in 2017 that my husband was offered his dream job which would ultimately require us to move across the country. While it’s a fun move and completely a dream situation, the timing is a bit tricky. Before we had found out that the move was happening, I had made some big plans for Reina + Co. Since learning about the moving logistics, i’ve had to scale back in some regards.
Main takeaway here: I’m stubborn and I love to plan early. So the plan that I had created made me feel “locked in” and I felt like I didn’t want to change it. Which is hysterical because isn’t that why I’m an entrepreneur? I can change my schedule because I created the plan to begin with.

My Intentions

After 2017: Year of Build, during which we improved many things in our operations of Reina + Co and the behind the scenes goodness, we’re ready for a new vibe in 2018. The theme this year for our team is: FLAGSHIP. To me, this word means that we know what we stand for. We have things we will always say and believe in. We have a solid CORE offer to share with the world. Flagship to me is about drilling down and staking our claim. Simultaneously, we’re welcoming people to join our + Co part of Reina + Co. We want people to hear our message and to feel like they too can join the community. (So happy you’re here, by the way)

We’ve made some scary investments, made some scary decisions, committed to big projects in hopes that we will, ultimately, serve our clients better.

My Prediction

I’m anticipating people (consumers) getting smarter – yep, you. Our consumers want intimacy with leaders, more access, more connection. My prediction is that we’ll see more bespoke experiences, tailor-made opportunities to connect, and services that truly serve.

I think that there’s no shortage of people who want to be seen, heard, understood, and validated. As service-based (and product folks too), if we can serve the need of the customer by letting them feel seen and heard, you’ll be well beyond your competition.

So, what can we do about this?

One solution is to think about your customers as people who want to work with you. Your expertise, your knowledge, your personality, your values, your relatability, all of those things play into a decision of whether somebody will buy from you or your competition.

You can listen more than you speak. By hearing your audience and gauging their excitement and intrigue, you’ll be able to create messaging and products that actually help with what your customers and clients want to buy.

Take care of the people you already have. Instead of trying to “grow big,” sometimes cultivating what’s already in front of you is easier. I’ve found that I get repeat clients because I love treating our customers like VIPs. With Client Only events, offers, deals, and the behind the scenes things I share, I get to reward the people who are already part of my community.

Get consistent. People trust you when you’re consistent and are reliable. Show up for them. Be a human being rather than just the face of a business. It matters that your work ethic also matches your empathy.

Whether you do New Year’s Resolutions or not, I hope you’ll take time to reflect and decide what in the past has worked and how you want to move forward. There’s nothing magical about the New Year, you can’t deny that there’s a certain zing (maybe it’s just the cold air?) in the air that gets you excited.

If you’ve been wondering how you can plan for a more successful year, I urge you to grab a copy of the Big Plan for the Creative Mind. We wrote the book for you so that you can start being more intentional in the way you tackle the next 11 months. It’s time to make progress on the things that matter most to you!
